Try it before you buy it: Ways to try out new colors on your house
Before you dip your brush into the paint make sure the colors are what you expect. Here are a few tip for ensuring a happy ending.
- Use a paint visualizer to test colors on rooms like yours. Sherwin-Williams allows you to upload your own pictures so that gives an even better idea of how the colors will look.
- Find a shade darker and lighter to compare.
- Compare. Collect color cards and compare them with the changing daylight and at night to make sure this is the color you desire.
- Buy testers. Lowe's provides tester paint for around $3.00. It can save lots of money in the end when that chocolate brown accent wall just isn't what you expected.
- Priming is everything. There are new brands that combine primer and paint. If you choose the more traditional route of primer make sure you select the right primer so the color you chose is the color that you see on your walls.
